I’m going to quickly address the Logo for my pen names that I’ve use as a profile pic for Facebook, Instagram accounts and as a Youtube thumbnail as well, which some friends and some individuals have stated looks like the Transformers Deception symbol, and I can certainly understand that view. The Logo wasn’t derived from that symbol however.
Now for starters, I was never the type of person to use my actual picture most of the time on social media accounts, and always found that using a profile picture that resonates across the board with most people is incredibly more palatable and significant than sharing my ugly mug, or more incisively *gasp* using a Logo that looks like could be the Decepticon symbol but is not, which is the vanguard reason for this piece.
The Logo for my pen names was created from scratch to incorporate the first letter of both the first and last names of Zy Marquiez, and Noctis Blackburn. The Logo features all four letters within it.
Zy Marquiez is the pen name I plan using to explore the Light side of things in writing, and Blackburn is what I will use to explore the Dark side of things, which I will keep strictly to fiction, poetry, short stories and so on in the future. With my Marquiez pen name, I will do everything from blogging, poetry, and various nonfiction and fiction books hopefully in the future.
As aforementioned, all four letters, the first of the first and last names, are featured within the Logo. The Logo features (3) Zs, two of which double as rearranged and mirrored Ns within the mid portion of the Logo, and one of which is above that looks like a diamond, which is simply a square slanted sideways, which is the third Z.
The (1) M is the fusion of 2 of the mirrored Ns (or Zs) right across the middle.
There are (4) Ns, the 2 that mirror and fuse in the middle as one giant M, and the additional 2 that could be argued could be ‘ears’ so to speak.
Finally, there are (2) mirrored Bs in the bottom middle which feature 4 eyes. This is fitting given that the Logo is in essence is a fusion of both pen names, thus needing multiple sets of eyes to see separate perspectives in symbiosis. I find this important because many times people only see life through only a Light side of things, and the Dark side of things is something rarely ever explored.
As far as seeking to understand the Dark side of things, by no means would I ever support or even suggest for anyone to do anything that should be considered harmful, hateful, or downright stupid that could qualify as Dark. All I am saying is that understanding the Dark side from a philosophical perspective is just as important as the Light. This is why I have often ventured into eastern philosophy, for their appreciation of the duality of things is something I find highly lacking in the west.
Bottom line: I wanted a Logo that incorporated both Pen names with their initials, that was simple in its design and yet complex in its depth, while also being no-nonsense, and me through and through. That’s what I came up with. As I often say, I can only be me, I refuse to be anyone else, and the Logo reflects me in its entirety. Anyone who thinks that Logo is about deception doesn’t understand me as a person, as well as what I have been attempting to do with this blog or any of my poetry.
One last thing of note on the title of the Blog; the word Individual in Breakaway Individual does not allude to me, but to individuals who were incredibly ahead in their time, to the point that the contributions to humanity still echo incredibly to this day. This is a subject that I will write about in the future. For those curious, one incisive example of this idea is Socrates, the father of Philosophy. I just wanted to make that distinction surgically precise so no assumptions are made otherwise.
You all have a stellar evening and take care.
